Supported sites

VidNabbit works with public links: if the video, audio or image plays in a private browser window without signing in, we can usually read it. Many sites limit downloading in their own terms, so check that you're allowed to save what you paste (see how to save your own uploads). We are not affiliated with any of these sites.

Usually works

  • YouTube: Creative Commons videos only: public videos the creator has licensed for reuse (one video at a time, not channels or playlists)
  • Instagram: public posts and reels that show while signed out. Instagram hides a lot from signed-out visitors, so many links won't work
  • Other video, audio and social sites: public pages that play without signing in, on thousands of sites
  • Media archives: Creative Commons and public-domain collections such as the Internet Archive and Wikimedia Commons
  • Direct file links: a link that ends in a media file such as .mp4, .mp3 or .jpg

Site support changes often, so this list is a guide, not a guarantee.

Finding Creative Commons videos on YouTube

On YouTube we only save videos licensed under Creative Commons. To find them, search on YouTube, open Filters and choose Creative Commons. On a video, the licence is shown at the bottom of the description. Creative Commons usually asks you to credit the creator when you reuse the video.

Never works

These limits are deliberate and we won't add workarounds:

  • DRM-protected streaming services, for example Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Hotstar premium, Spotify and Apple Music
  • Anything that needs you to sign in, subscribe, pay or verify your age
  • Private, members-only, or unlisted content that requires permission
  • Live streams and premieres that haven't finished
  • Content removed at a rights holder's request
  • Media longer than 3 hours or files larger than 4 GB

Why no DRM or logins?

DRM (digital rights management) is copy protection that rights holders add on purpose. VidNabbit never bypasses it. We also never ask for, store or use your passwords, cookies or login sessions, so content behind a sign-in is out of reach by design.

Only download what you're allowed to

Only download content you own, content licensed for download (such as Creative Commons), or content you have the owner's permission to use. See our Terms.

Site owners

If you run a site and want it excluded from VidNabbit, or you are a rights holder who wants content removed, use the copyright and takedown page.
